FGF-10 plays an important role in adipogenesis, at least partly by contributing to the expression of C/EBPβ through an autocrine/paracrine mechanism. During cardiogenesis, FGF-10 is expressed in the anterior second heart field. Together with Fibroblast growth factor 8 (FGF-8), FGF10 promotes the proliferation of these cardiac progenitor cells that form the arterial pole of the heart.
