Human Apolipoprotein-Serum Amyloid A (Human Apo-SAA) is a member of the serum amyloid A family of apolipoproteins. The encoded preproprotein is proteolytically processed to generate the mature protein. This protein is a major acute phase protein that is highly expressed in response to inflammation and tissue injury. This protein also plays an important role in HDL metabolism and cholesterol homeostasis. High levels of this protein are associated with chronic inflammatory diseases including atherosclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis, Alzheimer's disease and Crohn's disease. This protein may also be a potential biomarker for certain tumors. Finally, antimicrobial activity against S. aureus and E. coli resides in the N-terminal portion of the mature protein.

Biological Activity |
The biological activity determined by its ability to down-regulate lipid biosynthesis in aortic smooth muscle cells. The effective concentration was found to be 4 μM. Fully biologically active when compared to standard. |
Formulation |
Lyophilized from a 0.2 μm filtered concentrated solution in 20 mM Tris-HCl, pH 9.0, 150 mM NaCl. |
Reconstitution |
We recommend that this vial be briefly centrifuged prior to opening to bring the contents to the bottom. Reconstitute in sterile distilled water or aqueous buffer containing 0.1% BSA to a concentration of 0.1-1.0 mg/mL. Stock solutions should be apportioned into working aliquots and stored at ≤ -20℃. Further dilutions should be made in appropriate buffered solutions. |
Shipping and Storage
The products are shipped with ice pack and can be stored at -20℃ to -80℃ for 1 year.
Recommend to aliquot the protein into smaller quantities when first used and avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
Cautions
1. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
